Participation in this framework signifies that an organization provides “adequate” data protection, a fundamental requirement under GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 for transferring personal data outside these regions. The framework also introduces several key safeguards, including: Limitations on Access: U.S. intelligence services’ access to EU data is restricted to what is necessary and proportionate. Data Protection Review Court (DPRC): A newly established court reviews decisions by U.S. authorities regarding access to EU data.
